My name is Emily Spurdle. I am a mother of two children; Tessa, a year one student at Matua Ngaru School, and Indie, who is three years old and attends Kumeu Montessori Preschool. I am excited at the opportunity to be considered for a possible trustee at Matua Ngaru School.
My husband and I (Tony) have resided in the local community for the last six years and feel privileged that the timing has been right for our children to be part of such a wonderful new school.
A huge thank you to the Establishment Board of Trustees, Diana Wilkes and all the staff that have created an amazing culture for our daughter, and all the other students of Matua Ngaru.
I consider my life to be somewhat hectic; juggling raising a family, running a household, maintaining relationships and employment but know how important it is to make time for the things that are going to create a better tomorrow for my children, and those that follow.
I value the importance of being involved in my community and in ensuring there is a strong partnership between this community and our school. I have a strong desire to be involved in the school’s future direction to ensure the current and future students have a school that caters for various learning needs, cultures and is inclusive to all. I am passionate about ensuring equitable opportunities and participation in quality education for all children.
A little bit about me, as well as being a mother and a wife, I am an Occupational Therapist. I work to support individuals with various challenges and disabilities to participate and engage in a meaningful life. I believe that this vision sits well with the philosophy of Matua Ngaru School, and hope that this viewpoint may be considered a valuable asset for the Board of Trustees.
